blue apron...

There are two things that I hate.
Can't stand.
"Hate, hate, hate hate hate, double hate, loathe entirely" Grinch style.

1. Planning meals for two people.
2. Grocery shopping.

I often find myself not cooking for weeks, due to not having food planned and available to make.
And don't even get me started on how awful grocery shopping is.
I avoid that place like it's Satan's palace.
Like you go through, and have to SEARCH for whatever you need.
Nothing is ever easy to find.
Gather everything you need in your cart.
Put it all on the conveyer belt, only to put it into bags.
Unload into your car.
Haul it all into your house, only to put it all away AGAIN.
Not only that, but when you live with only one person, most of that food goes to waste.
Sorry, we wont use an entire bag of lettuce in a week.

So on the off chance that I do go grocery shopping, it's usually junk so it won't go wasted before we can get to it.
Then when it comes to dinner time, Trav comes home and asks, "What can we make for dinner?"
I'll typically reply, "There's frozen chicken in the freezer."
We're sick of grilled chicken.

Well, we have found a cure to all of this chaos.
Blue Apron to the rescue!
I found out about this place from other bloggers.
It's so easy.
They have meals planned for you weekly.
You just tell them how many, and how often.
Or you can go and choose from their master menu.
They send you all of the ingredients fro each meal in a giant disposable cooler box.
No grocery shopping.

Let me say that again...
NO GROCERY SHOPPING.

Not only that, but they portion everything out.
That means, we're getting fresh produce for every meal, and not wasting half of it.
(Fresh produce through the Utah winter, say whaaa?)
They send you all of the supplies, and the recipes.
Each recipe is laid out step by step and is put as simply as you could possibly imagine.
So easy to make.
I'm no cook, and I can do it.
And it's YUMMY.
It gets better.

Plus it's not very expensive.
It's more expensive for us to try to shop for healthy meals at the store.

Last night, we tried our first meal.
We were seriously impressed, and plan to make it a continuous thing.
They're not even paying me to say this.

And I forgot to take a picture of the final product before we ate most of it.
We ordered for two, and fed four.
So they're not small servings.
Plus you can know that each meal is healthy and low in calories.

We can't wait for our next meal.
Thank you Blue Apron!

one year...

It's been the best year of my life.
I can't believe it's been a year.
We've had such an amazing, special day.
But for now, I'll share our video from our wedding day.

first day as a nurse...

Good news!
I got hired.

Utah Valley Regional Medical Center
Cardiac Progressive Care Unit, 5th floor
Full time night shift

I applied for many jobs, and interviewed here, IMC, Primary Children's and Payson Hospital Labor.
Even though many of the other jobs seemed more exciting (like Primary's or Labor),
this one felt right.
It's close, and it will be such a blessing.
I'll learn so much.
I'm so excited!

Today was my first day as a nurse.
I had to go to an orientation.
There are two days of orientation, so I'll be back tomorrow.
Then I'll start working two shifts a week, and be in a class for four hours each week, then finish up my 36 hours with computer training modules, for ten weeks.

It was hard to sit all day long and stay focused.
And I missed my puppy.
I wasn't even mad when she chewed up my Halloween pillow.
She was so proud and so happy to see me come home.
love.

I still can't believe I'm a nurse.
It will be a tough and FUN year of learning and getting used to things.
I'll work with people who have heart problems, like heart attacks, or open heart surgery.
I'll also work with people who have vascular or circulatory issues.
Lastly, my floor is an overflow for the med surg floors, so I'll be doing all of that too.
I'm so happy and so grateful to work for such an amazing company, Intermountain Health Care.

weekend festivities...

Our friends, K and J invited us about a month ago to go to Thriller with them in Park City.
I was thrilled (see what I did there) to go.
Trav had never seen it, and was hesitant at first, but after I talked it up, he got excited.
It helped that K told him he doesn't usually like plays but liked this.
It was a total blast.
First we went to dinner at Ruby Tuesday's.
Then we went to the theater.
J and I were terrified of the zombies at first, then got a little bit used to them blowing our hair and hissing in our ears after a little bit.
This one below, crawled all over and shared a seat with me for about five minutes.
Sorry for the iphone pictures and bad lighting, at least it's pictures, right?

It was such a fun Saturday night.
I loved every second.

We also watched general conference.
It was the first year I watched all five sessions (I included the women's meeting I recorded and watched this week).
I'm pretty sure these speakers speak with me in mind.
I felt uplifted and inspired to be better.
Now, I feel like I need to rewind and watch it all again, to let it really soak in.
Saturday morning, after a run with Mika, Trav's mom and Kait came to watch the first session.
The Saturday afternoon session, I watched alone, while I cut up vegetables for a yummy chip dip.
Both Sunday sessions we went to my mom's.
We ate breakfast, and dinner and decorated for Halloween in between.
Also, B took sixty-seven selfies.
Here are a few.

I feel so rejuvenated after this weekend.
It's just what I needed.
